Professional sports stadiums in Houston
Houston is dedicated to their pro sports teams, and the fans are always there cheering them on. This is evident when you see the great stadiums in the city.
NRG Stadium
This multipurpose stadium has a seating capacity of 71,795. The playing surface is 97,000 square feet. NRG is home to the Houston Texans, The Texas Bowl, The Houston Livestock and Rodeo show, as well as international soccer matches for the USA National Soccer team, and much more. This 353-million-dollar stadium is state of the art and is the first NFL stadium to have a retractable roof. NRG Stadium hosted Super Bowl LI.
Minute Maid Park
This ballpark opened in downtown Houston in 2000 to house the Houston Astros, the city’s Major League Baseball team. It replaced the Astrodome which opened in 1965. The Astrodome was the first-ever domed stadium built. The seating capacity is 41,168, and that includes more than 5,000 club seats and 63 luxury suites. The love of sports in Houston has been around for decades and Minute Maid Park is an example of that commitment.
BBVA Compass Stadium
BBVA Compass Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium in Houston and has one of best-kept fields in the nation. It is home to the following teams:

- Texas Southern Tigers – Football team
Toyota Center
Located in downtown Houston, the Toyota Center is home to NBA’s Houston Rockets and professional ice hockey team, AHL’s Houston Aeros. This indoor arena cost 235 million dollars and is used for other major events and concerts. It officially opened in October of 2003.
