University of Houston
The University of Houston is an award-winning University and a Carnegie Tier One Status, research facility. This is the highest rating available from the Carnegie Foundation.
Founded in 1927, University of Houston has nearly 35,000 undergraduate students enrolled at the university. Home to top athletic teams, and dedicated to the students who attended there, there are more than 400 student organizations, including fraternities and sororities.
The University of Houston offers majors and minors in more than 13 schools, and they help students reach their degree goals, seamlessly and creatively. They also have one of the most beautiful campuses in the state of Texas.
Note: University of Houston – Downtown is worthy of a mention. This campus has a culturally and ethnically diverse student body and an equally diverse Liberal Arts Program. The school caters to the needs of the student.
Baylor College of Medicine
Baylor College of Medicine is the only private medical school in the greater Southwest. It is very highly rated for research, science, care of patients, and a premier educational program. Baylor College of Medicine rates as one of the top 25 medical colleges in the world for research according to U.S. News and World Report. There are more than 3,000 medical students enrolled in the various medical degree programs.
Sam Houston State University
Carnegie Foundation classifies Sam Houston State University in the top 7 percent of institutions of higher education in the nation. Founded over 137 years ago, SHSU serves nearly 17,000 graduate, undergraduates, and doctoral students. This university’s rich legacy and dedication to the students’ academic success makes it a leader in Texas higher education.
South Texas College of Law
This renowned college is one of the largest private law schools in the country. The school provides the best education possible for all students, and there is a diverse student body. Their programs go above and beyond in preparing their graduates for community service and the highest legal standards. Some even compare the design of the school to the residential landscape design Denver and other cities have to offer.
Texas Southern University
One of two Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) in the world. This university’s campus is centrally located in the heart of Houston, and home to more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Founded in 1947, the school prides itself on its athletics teams and offers more than 100 degree programs and 80 student organizations.
