If you live in Texas, you know there are a few things that come to mind when you think of food. Beef, pork, and seafood. Of course, Houston has a lot of other great food, and we will try to share some our favorites with you. But, any Houston native knows a proper list of the best restaurants in the city starts with the juiciest burger in town.
Bernie’s Burger Bus
Home to some of the most fantastic burgers in Houston. Bernie’s Burger Bus is one of the best places we have tried in Houston. Bernie’s only uses the best Black Angus Beef, and every burger is made from scratch and cooked to perfection. Our favorite burger from the menu is The Detention, which includes two perfectly cooked burger patties covered in melted cheddar and topped with bourbon-glazed “tipsy” onions. The condiments and buns are even homemade. This eatery is a must see!
Kumma Burgers – Spicy Burger!
This Houston favorite is a hidden gem in the Greenway Plaza Food Court and worth the trip. If you are a fan of spicy food and feeling brave, go for the Spicy Burger. This umami-packed burger features hand-formed beef patties, soy and shiitake sauces, three kinds of jalapeno, house sambal mayo, and additional toppings include bacon, fried eggs and much more. You are in for a fantastic burger that you can only get in Houston.
Vic & Anthony’s
It was very hard deciding where to put Vic & Anthony’s on our list. Not only is the restaurant the highest rated Houston restaurant for steak, but they also have the best seafood in the area and feature an impressive wine list. They only use USDA prime Midwest grain fed beef, and the made from scratch side dishes and desserts are probably the best in the city. The old-style southern charm of this location makes for a relaxed, yet elegant meal. Prepare yourself for a memorable dining experience.
Killen’s BBQ
Ronnie Killen made the other BBQ houses in Houston snap to attention when he opened his BBQ restaurant in 2013. This stemmed from Ronnie’s love of the old-school BBQ cook-offs that make are famous in the south. Houston residents and visitors get to enjoy the fruits of his labor. There is no doubt that you will find a lot of great BBQ in Houston. But you owe it to yourself to give Killen’s a try. You will be impressed by the delicious food and the price!
Christie’s Seafood & Steaks
Christie’s is the oldest family owned seafood restaurant in Houston. It was established in 1917, and they still do things right. They serve the freshest food, expertly prepared, and served to you like family. The casual atmosphere is welcoming and child-friendly. How can you tell when a place is good? How about when former presidents, like George W. Bush and former Secretary of State, James Baker eat there? You can bet that is some good eating! This restaurant will quickly become one of your favorites. It is also home to one of the prettiest restaurant landscapes in Texas.
